Happy Easter, everyone–He is Risen!
Jesus has impacted not just my writing, but my entire way of thinking. Tonight’s blog post will be about how God’s influence on me has affected Her Prince of Dreams.
Typically when someone tells their tale of God’s imprint on them, it’s filled with turmoil or chaotic experiences. But my story is not like this; I was simply raised in church and discovered God more and more as I grew. The more I discovered God, the more I would be in-tune with making others feel happy and following the rules. I read the Bible in church and listened to the lessons. Beginning my career as a writer in sixth grade helped me realize how God shaped what I write.
I feel like God should also influence all of my characters like he does to me. I never wanted or believed that sitting someone down and telling my testimony would impact people as much as them observing my actions would.
When I wrote Her Prince of Dreams, I made sure the LORD could be seen throughout it as a theme among the others.
“‘Anyway guys, let’s read the Bible before bed.’ Samantha took out a Bible from the nightstand beside Noah. She opened to a random Psalm and read the whole thing. They then discussed it as if they were participating in a small connect group. They prayed and then lay down under the covers.”

“A silence filled the air before Samantha spoke, ‘Can we pray?’
‘Dear God. We don’t know what events will unfold,’ Samantha nervously began, ‘but we know that it is Your will.’ Once again, the room fell silent.”

The LORD has impacted me every day, even in the midst of negativity in my school. I’m hoping that not just my written words will inspire, but my actions.
Have a happy Easter, everyone!
